 DESCRIPTION:
Tuscany ( Toscana ) is a region famous for its arts, history, beautiful sceneries and not to forget the wine – the most famous of which is Chianti – plus what we cannot leave out is Elba Island. The name of this region comes from latin origin „Tusci", which was used for Etruscans. The remnants of their culture in Italy are spread all over the region of Tuscany – many cities are surrounded by Etruscan walls, beautiful palaces represent the regions wealth.
• Florence - the cradle of the Renaissance which attracts tourists from all over the word till today. The city as it stands today is represented by charming Ponte Vecchio Bridge (Old bridge) with small goldsmiths' shops, Michelangelo's statue of David, gothic church of Santa Croce or the Uffuzzi gallery with the richest collection of Italian Renaissance art.
• Pisa - city world-famous for the Square of Miracles "Campo dei Miracoli" and its 4 highlights: spectacular sloping tower, cathedral, baptistery and Camposanto. The Sloping tower of Pisa is the most interesting attraction for tourists – the diversion of the upper part from the lower part is more than 4 metres…
• Versilia - is situated in the north-western part of Tuscany in the region of Lucca between Apuan Alps and Tyrrhenian Sea. The length of this area’s shore is about 20km. The resorts Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi, Seravezza and Stazzema belong to the historical part - so called “Vera Versilia”. Camaiore, Massarosa and Viareggio are peripheral resorts. The area of Versilia is very colorful, affected by its geography – the top of mount la Pania della Croce (1.859 m above sea level) is only 15km far as the crow flies from the seaside resort Forte dei Marmi. The climate is pleasant and mild, near mountains balance the humidity during hot summers while the sea provides mild winter.
Pietrasanta – historical town and its remarkable sights most of which are located on the charming square Piazza del Duomo. Marina di Pietrasanta is a famous sea-side resort with elegant villas, hotels and sports facilities set among greenery. Plus the resort doesn’t lack night clubs and discotheques.
Forte dei Marmi – this sea-side resort is already many years sought after by artists, writers and prominent people of financial and industrial world. What attracts them are luxurious secluded villas set in beautiful gardens and parks. In the resort you can find hotels of all categories, exclusive designers‘ boutiques, promenades and last but not the least a sandy beach with high quality service.
Viareggio – a renowned seaside resort known as „The Pearl of Tyrrhenian Sea“ spreads among two pine forests and beautiful Massaciuccoli lake. To name one of the most famous festivals that take place here, surely „Puccini Opera Festival“ is the one. It takes place in Torre del Laggo as Giacomo Puccini lived and composed many of his works here.

If we look at Tuscany through the eyes of tourism industry, it has the most significant place concerning agro tourism. The region is sought after by intellectuals, artists and emotionally mature tourists for the beauty of the land and the ability of local architects to stay in harmony with nature. Artists rent houses here all year long and inspire themselves while composing their works by surrounding sceneries. Local nature as if drawn as an enchanting picture creates a unity with people’s homes.

If you plan to stay at the sea during summer the area of Versilia is ideal for you. It spreads in the north-western part of Toscana in Lucca region, between Apuan Alps and Tyrrhenian Sea. It borders with neighboring region Liguria. About 20km of shores with wonderful and perfectly equipped and kept sandy beaches is one of the characteristics of this area. The resorts of Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi, Seravezza and Stazzema belong to the historical part „vera Versilia“.
